A wonderful resort to base yourself, renting a villa or apartment in Baveno provides some breathtaking views of the three Borromean islands and surrounding mountains. Holiday homes are excellent value and in Baveno, most of the villas and apartments are within a short walk to the main square and promenade.
Things to see and do
- Head in to Stresa and take the cable up to Monte Mottarone - stunning views of the lake and quite a gentle walk back down
- Sail up to the chic resort of Locarno in the northern Swiss section
- During the winter, you can ski on the pistes above Maggiore although a little further afield is the international ski resort of Madesimo
Our view on Baveno
Baveno is a great base for exploring Lake Maggiore - well connected by ferry and superb views. As far as lakes & mountains holiday resorts go, Baveno is up there with the best.
