L'Ametlla de Mar, famed for its tuna fishing, is a wonderful family beach resort just 50km southwest of Tarragona. Its a relatively quiet and relaxed place, even in high season, where you can enjoy the wonderful beaches and fine restaurants without the crowds.
The 14km coastline of L'Ametlla de Mar is home to some towering cliffs, hidden bays, crystal clear water and white sandy beaches such as Cala del Trevol, Calafat, Sant Jordi and rocky coves such as La Cala de Estany Tort - all backed up by pine forests - the scenery is really spectacular.
For families, the Port Aventura resort a few miles away is a must. It has water rides for all ages, live action shows, restaurants and bars and is like a mini village with 5 themed zones.
