Costa Teguise sits on the east coast of Lanzarote and is a wonderful relaxing beach resort with lovely wide sandy beaches. A lively resort with a beautiful marina, sophisticated dining, a good selection of bars and lots of pretty boutiques for shopping.

The main beach is Playa de las Cucharas which is flanked with a long promenade that has many restaurants, cafes and bars where you can watch the world go by. A few minutes away is the quieter El Jablillo beach with its calm, turquoise waters and is a popular beach for families.

Sophisticated cocktail bars along the promenade are the ideal place to watch the spectacular sunsets followed by alfresco dining at one of the many excellent restaurants offering a choice of local and international cuisine. For late evening entertainment, there are several dance clubs and beach bars with live music.

Costa Teguise and the surrounding area is full of interesting villages and countryside to explore. Here are a few suggestions....

• Visit the blowholes of Los Hervideros on the south coast. These are fascinating to watch from the specifically created paths as the waves crash in to the cliffs
• Hire a 4x4 and explore the lunar landscape in the Timanfanya National Park with its volcanic craters
• Explore some of the best coastal tracks in the Canaries whilst drving around Lanzarote
• Shopping in Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote just 9kms away
• Guided underground tours of the lava tubes at Cueva de los Verdes
