Things To See & DO
Arrochar is a place to visit any time of year and there is never a dull moment. Some of the more popular activities include....
Glencoe Mountain
Arrochar is just 52 miles away from the Glencoe Mountain on Rannoch Moor in the Scottish Highlands. When the snow conditions are good, skiing at Glencoe can be as good as the Alps with a good mix of beginner and intermediate pistes. From the top lifts, the views are spectacular and include the Buachaille Etive Mor.
Loch Tay (40 miles)
This stunning loch sits in the heart of the Perthshire Highlands - a place of pristine natural beauty. At 23kms long, it is the largest in Perthshire and has many sandy beaches and a marina where you can rent a boat and explore the loch.
Heading to the western tip of the loch will bring you to the pretty village of Killin which is home to the famous rapids known as the Falls of Dochart and also 18 prehistoric loch dwellings known as Crannogs.
Crannog - Loch Tay
The Crannog Tourist Centre is a must see attraction. A Crannog is an ancient loch-dwelling found throughout Scotland and Ireland and date from the early Iron Age some 2,500 years ago.
The Highland Perthshire Crannogs were originally timber-built roundhouses supported on piles or stilts driven into the lochbed and used as fishing stations, hunting or as homes.
